Zhaoze uses the Guqin, a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family, in their live-shows and recordings. The Guqin has been played since ancient times, and has traditionally been favoured by scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement, as highlighted by the quote “a gentle man does not part with his qin or se without good reason,” as well as being associated with the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius. Zhaoze combines the Guqin sound with Post-rock and Progressive rock sounds and makes up a unique imaginative sound spectrum, to provide a soulful, dreaming and beautiful poetic world. Zhaoze will teach the audience how to play the Guqin and will give updates about the current music-scene in China and their hometown Guangzhou.

沼泽 Zhaoze een post- en progressive rockband uit Guangzhou, China. Deze stad kent ongeveer evenveel inwoners als Nederland en ligt tegen Hong Kong aan, misschien een extra reden dat verschillende invloeden sneller samen smelten. Zhaoze staat bekend om hun unieke sound, waarin de Guqin, een traditioneel Chinees snaarinstrument centraal staat. De dromerige instrumentale muziek, afgewisseld met hevige uitbarstingen en klassieke elementen doen denken aan Mogwai. Na enkele wereldtournees, deze avond live in Cinetol.
