GAGgroup brings the Chinese underground directly to the Dutch alternative scene. The platform has produced over 36 concert series, focusing on performance art, avant-garde music, and alternative pop and rock. GAGgroup has brought prominent Chinese independent acts to Dutch stages, including Zhaoze, Lonely Leary, Fazi, Da Bang, Chui Wan, Wang Wen, and Carsick Cars.
The platform collaborates with partners such as the Dutch Performing Arts Fund, the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, and the Chinese label Maybe Mars, and has hosted showcases at events like SXSW. A central component of its programming is the Alternative Chinese New Year. Launched in 2016, this annual, consistently sold-out event reconstructs traditional festivities by having Dutch and Chinese artists perform alongside each other.
